Announcing Kindred Clinic Cork!

**Trans Healthcare Action is proud to announce the launch of Kindred Clinic Cork, the first peer-led trans health clinic in Ireland!** Created in partnership with the Sexual Health Centre, Kindred Clinic Cork is a small pilot clinic that offers care that is free, safe, local, gender-affirming, and de-pathologised to trans adults living in Cork City & County. Services are centred on self-determination, created by and for trans people, to reduce barriers to health and wellbeing that trans people experience. Care is provided by licensed clinicians working within their professional competency, and viewed through the lens of harm reduction. This allows those who face barriers in accessing services to avail of care friendly, community setting.

Statement on Labour's Motion Re: Trans Health

The motion notes the ongoing struggle that trans people are all too familiar with: a ballooning waiting list of 13+ years, invasive and distressing assessments, and how we have been let down by hollow government promises. Our healthcare still follows an outdated, dehumanizing psychiatric model of care, far out of line with international standards.

The Journal Investigates Trans Healthcare: Our Thoughts

Our community has long known the failures of our broken healthcare system, but getting the word out has always been a struggle. That’s why we’re relieved to see Conor O’Carroll break down the issues we face across their three recent articles. Containing first-hand accounts from almost 20 trans people, these articles demonstrate just how dire trans healthcare is in Ireland. Many of us who have endured scandalous treatment will no doubt feel vindicated seeing our struggle picked up by the media. Even though it’s painful for those coming forward, we are glad to have our story heard.

THA’s Statement on UK Supreme Court Judgment Regarding the Equality Act 2010

The recent judgment comes as a heavy blow to the trans community. We at THA deeply empathise with our neighbours in the UK. Our community faces uncertainty and anxiety as we try to figure out the ramifications of this judgment - legally, politically, and practically. We also note that this judgment does not arrive in a vacuum, but in the context of increasing legislative attacks on trans rights. From rejection of foreign gender and sex documentation to highly targeted restrictions on puberty blockers for trans young people, trans rights are being eroded by the UK government and legal system.

Trans Day of Visibility: Finding Courage in Visibility

A lot of us grew up not knowing a single other trans person. Some of us grew up not knowing that trans people *even existed*. We lacked the language to describe our experience, and had no-one who could understand us. So today, *on Trans Day of Visibility*, we remember how important it is to be seen by others. The relief of knowing you’re not alone, the joy in finding words to describe yourself, the reassurance that *there are others* like you out there - these are the gifts that visibility grants us. By living your life authentic and free, you show people that they are *not alone*. You encourage them, and show them that transition is not only *possible*, but *liberating*.

Trans Day of Resilience

Sometimes it feels like the world is against us. Our healthcare system pathologises us. Our government ignores us. Our civil servants don't know how to process us. But despite it all, we keep going. Throughout history, trans communities have shown resilience time and time again. On Trans Day of Resilience, we want to remind you that **we will persist.**

Hope: Insights after Transcare

Transcare was truly a multidisciplinary conference, with so many people from different places, professions, and backgrounds coming together to present research and discuss the needs and concerns of intersex, trans and gender-diverse people in healthcare.
